Abstract
This article addresses the issue of strawberry crop losses caused by frost in specific areas of Tabio, Cundinamarca, which leads to a significant decrease in both production and fruit quality. The main objective is to design and implement an integrated drip irrigation and temperature control system aimed at protecting strawberry crops against low temperatures, thereby improving their productivity and sustainability. The project development included a review of existing solutions, interviews with strawberry cultivation experts, and an analysis of farmers' perceptions regarding the adoption of new agricultural technologies. Additional challenges related to market acceptance of the product were identified, such as competition, perceived value by customers, and logistical difficulties in implementing technologies across different regions. Based on the collected information, an automated system was designed that integrates temperature and humidity sensors, drip irrigation, and thermal control, with its performance evaluated through tests under simulated frost conditions. The results showed potential improvements in plant protection and greater efficiency in water use. It is concluded that the implementation of this system can help reduce frost-related losses and increase agricultural productivity, representing a technologically viable and easily adoptable alternative for local farmers.
