This study systematically identifies and analyzes the range of defects affecting the Police Museum's structure through a multifaceted and methodologically rigorous approach. The initial phase consists of an exhaustive visual inspection, with meticulous documentation of all observable anomalies and pathologies. This process results in a detailed defect matrix that categorizes each defect by typology, probable causative mechanisms, and potential sources, whether inherent to the original construction, attributable to material degradation, or resulting from environmental exposure over time. To enhance diagnostic accuracy, visual assessment is integrated with both invasive and non-invasive laboratory investigations. Techniques such as ferroscan analysis detect and map steel reinforcement within concrete elements, while strategic soil sampling provides insights into subsurface geotechnical conditions. Extraction and laboratory examination of wall sections determine moisture content and clarify the extent of water ingress and its impact on construction materials. Additional laboratory tests assess critical variables, including the resistance of building materials to moisture, the integrity of structural steel, the bearing capacity of underlying soils, and the current groundwater table. Synthesizing the results of these methodologies enables a robust etiological analysis of the identified pathologies, allowing for precise determination of their origins, whether structural, material, environmental, or a combination. Based on these findings, the study formulates evidence-based recommendations, outlining targeted interventions for the rehabilitation, remediation, or ongoing maintenance of the Police Museum to safeguard its structural integrity and extend its service life
